Some refer to her as Admin, others as the Doorbell Woman, but she likes to call herself the BGL (Bao Ga Liao – “to cover everything” in Hokkien). Jokes aside, Wendy is the Accounts & Logistics Executive at Allegro Print.

Wendy starts her day with rounds, coordinating the delivery of printed products, and ensuring each one is assigned to the correct driver. Afterwards, she organises dispatch riders for smaller items like colour proofs, mock-ups, and samples. Once deliveries are out, she spends her morning restocking daily essentials such as office printer supplies, tape, and pantry items. Before she knows it, her morning has flown by. The rest of her day typically consists of administrative tasks, including managing emails, issuing invoices, and processing payments and claims.

→ Why a print house?

Wendy joined Allegro Print nearly 10 years ago as a Client Services professional. Initially, she entered the print industry to help a friend but soon became captivated by the printing process. However, as a fresh graduate, opportunities for growth were limited, prompting her to leave the industry. Despite this, she could not escape her passion for paper, printed products, and art and design books.

Fast forward, Wendy is back at Allegro Print! This time, she returned with the intent of engaging directly with production. However, her journey took an unexpected turn, and she found herself in an administrative role. Nevertheless, she still enjoys witnessing the entire creative process of the print house.

“It has definitely become MORE CREATIVE! So many new, innovative, and I dare say, GROUND-BREAKING products are being produced by Allegro Print.”

Wendy believes Allegro Print has come a long way and continues to evolve. One thing that remains constant, however, is the quality of prints and services. The team is always eager to assist, No matter how complicated or unique the printing ideas may be.

→ Challenges

As the sole administrative staff member, people often turn to Wendy for anything they need — locating a pen, finding batteries, or checking for supplies. They also ask about the status of incoming and outgoing items or who might be waiting outside the door. Additionally, Wendy tackles a lot of mundane paperwork that others prefer to avoid.

“Sometimes, I feel like I need two brains, eight hands, and four eyes to function. I must know where everything is. It can be really challenging when I’m only human.”

She reflects.

However, she understands that a creative print house does not require many administrative staff, as it could lead to idleness. Not that she is bragging, but she believes that administration work is not for everyone. Over the years, she has discovered that one of her strengths lies in this area, and she genuinely enjoys managing paperwork and even searching for pens for her colleagues. What really keeps her going is knowing her strengths and most importantly love.

“Yes, love! Love for paper, love for pens, and love for people. When my colleagues need help, knowing I can assist brings me fulfilment. Even if my work seems mundane, it’s the kind of important, everyday task that keeps everything running smoothly.”

In conclusion, although Wendy is a one-woman team, she brings everyone together with her dedication and efficiency. Her role may be behind the scenes, but it is essential to Allegro's smooth operations. Whether it is ensuring timely deliveries or solving the everyday office challenges her colleagues face, Wendy's passion for the work shines through. Her ability to balance logistics, administration, and even team morale proves that she is more than just the "BGL", she’s the glue that holds it all together.
