Offset Printing: Neon Green / Neon Red / Neon Blue

Offset printing, although a standard in commercial printing, is often used in larger projects due to its cost-effectiveness in larger quantities, which incurs costs impractical for students or small initiatives. For this reason, it is seldom experimented with as a process and is even less likely encountered as part of learning in graphic design.

This project addresses this limitation and with the generosity of Allegro Print, invites students to explore offset printing using non-CMYK spot colours. The process involves creating test print images/graphics and a few rounds of testing using the Risograph (as simulation) and offset printing press to produce this small publication of collective sample experiments.

Offset Printing: Neon Green/Neon Red/Blue is a 5-week project at LASALLE College of the Arts (Singapore) with 2nd year BA Design Communication students, supported by Allegro Print and RJ Paper, led by Gideon Kong.

This document is offset printed by Allegro Print in Neon Green (Pantone 802), Neon Red (Pantone 805), and Blue (Pantone Blue 072) on Maple White 140gsm from RJ Paper in a print run of 300 copies.
